2007 Mock Draft

I am pretty good at figuring out who will take who based on past tendency's. This is a mock based onthe teams keeping their 1st.

1. North Texas - 1B Ryan Howard Not the #1 pick in my book but probably the best 5 year player so he goes 1. Expect growing pains this year. Teams will be pitching around him and with only Burrell behind him his BB will increase.

2. Encinitas - 3B Alex Rodriquez A more of a sure thing then Howard.. Even bad years he is better then 90% of the league.. A safe pick.

3. Brewers - SS Jose Reyes Best SS in the draft but due to the depth of SS this year not a good pick here.. Still most likely a 5 year guy..

4. Bay Area - 1B David Ortiz The #1 pick in my book but a risky 5 year due to age and of course his weight.. How will Ortiz be in years 4-5? Will his weight effect him like Frank Thomas?? Bay Area will have a tough decision.

5. Michigan - 1B Mark Teixeira A strong bounce back year in store here and at his age will lock a 5 year.. Team needs everything and Mark will provide the big stats...

6. Pacific - OF Jason Bay They are looking to unload Tavaras so they can take Bay.. OF is the pick for them here. Solid 3 year..

7. South Texas - OF Grady Sizemore South Texas likes younger player.. Look at his past drafts.. Vlad is the safer pick but I think Berg looks for the possibility of Sizemore growing past Vlad for the next 3 years.. I bet Berg wishes somebody would take Martinez off his hands.. Martinez a good catcher but not a 5 year guy.

8. Olivet - OF Vlad Guerrero Team I bet is hoping Bay or Sizemore slip by but that won't happen. Vlad is a strong pick here but could be a risky 5 year. Will be a tough decision for Olivet.

9. Dallas - 2B Chase Utley Dallas jumps on the top 2B in the draft and slaps a 5 year on him.. Should be near record runs if he bats 2nd or 3rd this year.

10. Nor Cal> - OF Carlos Lee Here is another safe pick. 300 30 115 and a 5 year contract for this 30 year old.

11. Mid-Michigan - SP Chris Carpenter Team needs an ACE bad. Well I don't see anybody dumb enough to slap a 5 year on a pitcher again but here is the top SP in the draft and safest.. 3 year for sure..

12. Knoxville - SS Derek Jeter Top SS left on the board.. 5 year guy?? Not sure but Knoxville will have to make that decision.

13. Springfield - SS Hanley Ramirez Here is a team not afraid to take a chance. Ramirez should be a solid 5 year guy.. Though I could see them also taking Daisuke Matsuzaka here. He should have his choice but would he slap a 5 year on a pitcher??

14. ES Blacksox - SP Daisuke Matsuzaka1 SP going into draft. I am sure SP is top of his list.. Either round 1 or round 2.. If the Jap pitcher is there I bet he takes him given his history of taking younger players who are unproven early..

15. Carolina - SP Roy Oswalt Team Needs a SP.. Roy is the best available and a 1st round worthy SP. Will he get another 5 year?? Only 29 and the way pitchers pitch into their 40's he should be solid.

16. New Jersey - SS Rafael Furcal 3 1st round worthy SS's in this draft. Not sure I ever saw this before. Yet Furcal is a solid run/SB producer.. Should help lock up those stats.

17. Columbus - OF Bobby Abreu Top OF left on the board. 20/20 guy. This fits Columbus's M.O. He should get a 3 year.

18. Gaylord - OF Ichiro Suzuki Team hoping 1 of the 3 top SS are available but if not they fill their SB hole and another quality OF. Solid 3 year pick here..

Of course this mock is based on current rosters and draft position.. If teams fill their holes through trades it will obviously mix it up again. Will revisit it after the moves and make any adjustments.
