This week Bombers faced the Mets and while it was close all week the Mets prevailed in the final days. Mets SVP Mike Reynolds sounded concerned in his post game conference. "We as a team are not working together. We are getting by but not in the fashion that will make teams fear us. Allowing categories to slip by is not going to win us the division. This is a year that we can win the division and anything less would be a disappointment. The pitching mainly has been the biggest concern. We go out and acquire more more proven yet still struggle on the ERA/WHIP side. Hopefully when Rich is back there will be more consistency." The Mets offense has been cool for the last 2 weeks not hitting more then 5HR's either week but the Stuff come in now. A team that has a good offense and can rival the Mets. The guys getting paid the big bucks need to step it up seriously. As we proved 2 weeks in a row even with mediocre hitting we still can win. The lone loss for the Mets had an Olivet team that so far has proved to be his best week of the year. This week we wanted to add Brian Roberts back in the mix at 2B but he hasn't come off DL and is way to risky. We also add Seth McClung. A guy who has had 5 quality starts in a row. His ERA looks bad but he had a 9.27ERA in April and an eye popping 2.30ERA in May. This week is pay back for the lack of starts last week. We have 10 starts this week while the Stuff will have 5. Pretty much locking Wins and K's. The Stuff match up well for us. They have more power right now but I feel that's the only stat they have over us. Any of the other 11 I could win. With that said the Mets are looking for an 8-4 win. The extra starts will probably blow ERA/WHIP then lose HR's and possibly RBI. The rest we could take. Last week if we faced them it would have been a 6-4 win but of the 4 I lost and 2 tied, I would win this week given my starts. 1 was K's the other was wins. Hopefully we can continue our winning ways.
Notes: Lopez once again not in the lineup as youngster Willingham is still performing well. Asked about his decreased time Lopez stated. " It stinks.. I want to help the club but the skipper hasn't put me in. Though I will be ready and willing once he does call my name." The Mets would have to be hit with an injury or a slump of Willingham before Lopezz would most likely be played. Obviously the Mets are playing the kid they signed a 3 year contract too.
