Mets Look to complete 2006 team

The Mets took another step closer to making this team complete by drafting BJ Ryan with he pick at #24. Ryan one of the most dominating closers. Has a huge K rate and will help in ERA/WHIP/K's/Saves. Thats all you could ask for from a closer. For a closer he had 70IP and 100K's and 36 saves. This year he is expected to move to elite. Along with Gonzalez we have 2 very good closers. Senior VP Raynolds had this to say about his team and the state of the draft so far. " We went in with the goal of drafting the best available regardless of position and we were able to do that and then some. We got the best SP in the draft. We also got the best 1B in the draft. We were shocked to get Smoltz with the pick at 12 and felt he was the 2nd best SP in the draft. Then in round 2 we took the 3rd or 4th best closer in the draft. his makes us think we did very well so far. What are the team needs at this point? Well we are looking at some SS currently but we also could use a speedy OF. Still we are drafting BEST AVAILABLE 1st and a 6th SP OR 3rd closer can not be ruled out. One thing we learned that there are 2 types of players you can NEVER have enough of. Those are solid SP's and Power hitters." So where does this leave the Mets in round 3?? Well the Post thinks the Mets will go after depth if thats the top guy. Right now it looks that way. Stay tuned..
