Mets Front Office Shocks New Jersey

The Post has recently found out that a spur of the moment deal was struck between the Mets and the Slammers. Reynolds made a public announcment just moments ago. "We have confirmed deal sending ACE Barry Zito to Springfield for Andruw Jones". When asked what brought this on.. "Well, we have been looking for some power the entire meetings but nobody was offering much. We continued to look toward the draft but nothing excited us. So when we saw Mr. Liehr we inquired about Konerko or Jones. Mr. Liehr kept redirecting back to Konerko. Well after negotiating some more.. Mr. Liehr finally made an offer to us involving Jones. We thought about it for a bit and hated to lose our ACE but there are so few 40+ HR hitters out there. We felt the need to get one. After losing Glaus power was a must." The Post suspects that Mr. Reynolds might still be looking for more. Possible using one of their 1st rounders to either get another solid SP or fill one of the holes they are looking towards the draft. Nothing can be ruled out at this point.. One thing is for sure. Their OF is no longer a big ???
