Now Senior Vice President (formerly President) Reynolds stated "When we went into the meetings looking to move Glaus, Giambi was the reason. After we acquired the #1 pick which locked our 4th SP. The need was POWER hitting. Last year Glaus hit .258 37HR and 97RBI in 538AB's. Giambi in 417AB's hit .271 32HR 87RBI PLUS add the 100+ BB a year. If you prorated his HR's to Glaus AB's He would hit 46HR's and and have 112RBI's. That plus giving us a 1B for 2007 after we lose our franchise in Helton after the season". Reynolds is creating a big stir here in NJ. Lots of talk about a return to what was a normal sight. That is getting the Mets to the top of the league. When asked what do you have planned at the #12 pick?? Reynolds smiled and said "I will look for a few veterans to slip.
